So Long My Friend

First thing this morning, I hopped on facebook before going for my walk and saw the most unthinkable thing ever!
A post saying my friend Burt Guy had died last night. Very awful and unexpected!

Let me tell you a bit about Burt. I had only met him in person once at the Due West cd release party last yr. He requested me as a friend on FB and we've gotten to know each other on there. He was always commenting on my statuses. Sending me messages reminding me when the next DW concert is in Nashville.. just making small talk. And we truely became friends.
He was/is Due Wests #1 fan! In fact, he considered himself their security guard (imagine this guy in a wheelchair chasing off screaming groupies!!). And even though he was wheelchair bound since birth, it never slowed him down!

Last week, my friend Julia and I were supposed to meet him in Hendersonville to see a movie at the theater he works at. Unfortunately because Harry Potter, the movie time changed and we weren't able to work it out and postponed for later. Who would have known that later would never come??

So Burt Guy- until next time!
will be rocking out at concerts in heaven for sure!
But until then, you will be SO missed!!!

Burt and Julia-- 2 of my very good friends!

SO LONG MY FRIEND (click title to listen to the song)
Written by Brad Hull & sung by Tim Gates
Featured on the self titled cd DUE WEST
... Released under Bigger Than Me Records

Even though I don’t want to accept it
There comes a time when everyone moves on
I know you can’t stay here forever,
Still I never thought this day would come
So long my friend, I’ll see you again
But until then, so long my friend
You know that you kept so many waiting
For you to make it to the other side
They welcome you with arms wide open
While I can’t find the words to say goodbye, so
So long my friend, I’ll see you again
But until then, so long my friend
These words I wish that I could tell you
Are gonna take some getting used to
So long my friend, I’ll see you again
But until then, so long my friend
Oh.. until then, so long my friend
