Sad Truths

It's time for a change. A big change. And only I can make this change.

I am unhealthy
I am overweight
I am pre-diabetic because of my weight and at risk for other health issues
I am out of shape
and it sucks!

So knowing these sad and ugly truths, it's now time to finally do something about it once and for all! I went and talked to a personal trainer at Body Plex who actually sat down with me and went over all the different factors I need to work on and what I can do, etc. And she was very sincere and actually WANTED to help me. I actually for once have a little hope that I can succeed-- I just need that little (okay.. BIG) push. So I'm making a little (okay.. BIG) investment and I'm going to work with her for 6-8weeks one on one and see if that give me that motivation and tools I so desperately need to get myself on track and eventually where I want to be. I'll be using my piano money for the next while to pay the money back but I'm sure it will be worth it. I want to make this change.
My first training session in next Thursday. Wish me luck!!!

Good luck, Shannon! YOU CAN DO IT! I think it would be so awesome to work out with a personal trainer. It's good that you like her, that will definitely help. Dr. Oz said something that I thought was really true, he said the body adjusts really quickly to our changes of habit. So if you start making healthier choices your body quickly starts to feel better. I have noticed that, if I start working out and eating right, I feel much better, even if I don't see the results immediately. You go girl!

GOOD LUCK!!! I know how hard it is to stay motivated and to reach my goals...not easy! BUT YOU CAN TOTALLY DO IT!!!!

Have you ever read "running with angels"?? Amazing book about a woman trying to get into shape after so much hardship and so many trials (she lost many children and others had serious medical complications....SOOOO sad!). In the book she was saying that she could never stay motivated to stick with a exercise program because her kids REALLY needed her and she felt selfish putting herself before them. Anyway, she said she didn't need to be motivated....she just NEEDED TO DO IT (which I really struggle with!) for herself so she could be there for her kids. That was a light bulb moment for me! Before I re-write her book in this comment.....GOOD FOR YOU for taking that first step. You will have to keep us posted on how it is going. I'm cheering for you!!!
